Tanganyika Plywood LTD (TPL) produces plywood for the local and regional markets in East Africa. It uses sustainable plantation materials, specifically eucalyptus and pine. The company has been operating for 8 years. It is looking for a candidate that has a keen eye to detail strong organizational skills and a solid understanding of business and accounting principles. The company is located in Mafinga, Tanzania and the project post is for a full-time position on site.
Job Overview:
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support our plant operations and contribute to our continued growth. The role involves ensuring the functionality, efficiency, and safety of mechanical systems, as well as implementing improvements to enhance productivity and quality.
Responsibilities and Duties
Equipment Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems and machinery to ensure smooth plant operations.
Process Optimization: Work closely with the production team to identify and implement process improvements for increased efficiency and reduced downtime.
Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to enhance equipment reliability and longevity.
Project Support: Participate in engineering projects, including the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
Safety and Compliance: Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with safety regulations and company quality standards.
Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest industry trends and technologies, and apply this knowledge to improve plant operations.
Required Qualification
1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
2. Certification as a Professional Engineer is advantageous
3. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
4. Willingness to work flexible hours as needed to support production demands.
5. Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work in a team, and good communication skills.
6. Knowledge of mechanical systems, machinery, and maintenance procedures.
