Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and qualified Legal Manager to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Laws degree and at least 10 years of post-qualification experience in civil litigation within the courts of Tanzania. A Master of Laws is an added advantage. This role requires strong legal expertise and leadership skills to manage the company’s legal activities and provide guidance across various departments.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise the legal activities of the company.
  • Lead the legal and contract support function, providing operational support, including legal advice and guidance to different departments.
  • Manage the company’s contract portfolio and coordinate legal support where necessary.
  • Advise and manage the efficient and effective legal and contract management system.
  • Assign, review, and supervise legal and contract work.
  • Collaborate closely with the litigation manager and external counsel on related cases and matters.
  • Ensure company compliance with laws, including updates and registration changes.
  • Ensure department milestones and goals are met, managing the budget and reporting.
  • Advise on business decisions and manage risks to help protect the company from potential lawsuits.
  • Assist with company secretarial administrative work and registrations.

 

Core Competencies

  • Experience at a senior level managing a varied portfolio across multiple industries.
  • Experience in Company Secretarial work.
  • Extensive experience working with a wide range of contracts, especially in technical and procurement sectors.
  • Knowledge of related products and services in various sectors is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and remain well-organized.
