The Health and Safety Lead is part of the Health, Safety, Security, Social and Environment (H3SE) team of the project. Health and Safety Lead reports to the project’s H3SE manager. Health and Safety Lead is the first person of contact for all HS matters on the construction site, offices and accommodation areas.

Health and Safety Lead is responsible to develop HS strategies, implementing HS procedures, and supervising HS supervisors and officers with Tanzania legal regulations and project H3SE policies, procedures and processes as part of the Integrated Management System.

Job responsibilities
• Collaborating with department managers to determine HS needs.
• Planning, assessing, and implementing comprehensive HS strategies.
• Assist with health and safety development, performance, and maintenance within the project •Contribute to the training and development of the team
• Monitors compliance with safety procedures.
• Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Supervising and interviewing HSE team personnel.
• Developing work schedules, allocating tasks, and monitoring personnel performance.
• Coordinating responses In line with the project, client, and local requirements to emergencies and alarms, as well as compiling incident reports.
• Ensuring compliance with company policies and industrial regulations.
• To report Key Performance Indicators to the Project’s H3SE Manager and Project Manager/Director.
• On call 24/7 for emergencies

Job Qualification, Experience and Skills Applicants should demonstrate the following:
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required; Master’s degree desirable.
• Health & Safety qualification (IOSH/NEBOSH)
• Excellent knowledge of both written and spoken English & Swahili is required
• You have at least 5 years of experience as a HS professional, in a marine or contracting company, preferably with Main Contractor.
• Extensive experience in Je y/marine works.
• Extensive knowledge of construction industry HSE regulations and OSHA Tz.
• Excellent organizational skills
• Proficient in technology and equipment used in HSE inspections.
• Clean record with no history of imprisonment or engagement in criminal / gang related activities.
• To have excellent organization and communication skills.
• To have the experience and the ability to work in a multi-cultural team;
• High degree of personal and professional ethics.
• High degree of organization and ability to organize team task and objectives is essential.
• Good report writing and analytical skills required, proven a en on to essential detail.
• Proven computer skills, including MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS teams and experience in using data management software preferred.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
