Job Description

Genesis International School is a day school catering for both Tanzanian and the International community.

Located in the Capital City of Dar es Salaam, the schools have two campus; one in Oysterbay and another in Kigamboni. The schools are accredited by Cambridge International Assessment Examinations operating a hybrid of this International syllabi inter related with the Tanzania National Curricula in respect of the 80% population of pupils being Tanzanian. The institution prides itself in providing high academic standards, a rich extra-curricular programme, and a friendly and inclusive environment for all and any pupil.

RESPONSIBILITES

1) Overall management of one Primary school and the flexibility to support in the sister campus whenever need arises

2) Report to the school Managing Director of Genesis Schools.

3) Ensuring that all staff in the school has access to advice and training appropriate to their needs, in accordance with the policies of Curriculum.

4) Management of the School Budget and ensuring appropriate financial management structures and procedures are maintained.

5) Evaluating the standards of teaching and learning in the school and ensuring that proper

standards of professional performance are established and maintained.

6) Strategic and Operational planning ( including review ) of the Institution as per the Five Year Plan

7) Effective implementation of all directives in regards to Management, Academic and General Programs.

8) Development and evolution of education methods, equipment, materials and pheripherals.

9) Relationship with the Ministry of Education of Tanzania, Cambridge International Assessment Examination and all other relevant bodies.

10) Evolve the schools operations in tandem with worldwide developments of teaching methods

11) Develop and maintain strategic partnership within and outside Tanzania with like Institutions and other educational stake holders

12) Promote the image of Genesis schools and its going concern.

13) Teach at least one subject

d) Ability to lead, coach and develop potentials in individuals and teams.

e) Maintain an environment that promotes and secures excellent teaching, effective learning, high standards of achievement and excellent behaviour.

f) Provide a clear educational direction for the school by contributing to the establishment and maintenance of policies that promote effective professional practice and define curriculum content.

g) Work in partnership with the management in the assessment of pupils and in monitoring and evaluating the quality of teaching.

h) Lead teaching and learning throughout the school and model best practice.

i) Making arrangements for parents to be given regular information about the school curriculum, the progress of their children and other matters affecting the school to improve children's achievement, personal and social development.

j) Keeping under review the work and organization of the school.

k) Arranging for deputy head teacher to assume responsibility for the discharge of his/her functions as head teacher at any time you/Head is absent from the school.

l) Allocating, controlling and accounting for financial and material resources of the school which are under the control of the head teacher.

PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE

  • Strong teaching skills
  • Strong computer application skills e.g. MS word, Ms. Power point, MS excel etc
  • Superior communication skills and ability to speak in Public
  • Report writing
  • Project implementation and follow through
  • Strategic short and long term planning
  • Basic Accountancy knowledge
  • Education administration and knowledge of challenges facing educational sector in Tanzania and other developing countries.
  • Good knowledge of education in Dar es Salaam and Tanzania
  • Knowledge of international curricula. Cambridge an added advantage

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

a) Certified Teaching qualification or Qualified Teacher Status.

b) Teaching experience (in the classroom) of not less than 10 years

c) Exposure (teaching and/or administration) to an International Curricullum of not less then 5 years

d) Leadership, Administration or Management experience of not less then 3 years in an educational institutition

e) A minimum qualification of a Bachelor Degree in Education (or equivalent )
