Job Purpose

The Head of Operations leads in the provision of engineering services to Clients in the telecommunication sector where operational, maintenance and projects implementation excellence is critical for delivery on SLA commitments and business targets. Oversees the department, manages and leads technical, operational, projects and support teams; plans and coordinates core activities-maintenance, projects, fleet & transportation, supply chain and stores; responds to and addresses customer service issues; prepares various reports to appraise management and customers of progress of various activities and results

Main Responsibilities

  • Plans and controls execution of  departmental activities, ensuring that people and other resources are optimally deployed to meet daily, weekly and monthly operational demands against established SLAs, Quality Systems, HSE  standards and other metrics/KPIs
  • Manages work, ensuring core activities are effectively and efficiently carried out for maintenance and repairs including electrical, mechanical and civil works
  • Manages logistics and supply chain activities, ensuring operational activities and business is well supported and supplied with necessary equipment and materials needed for execution of maintenance, projects activities,  and movements to various sites
  • Manages company and contracted fleet operations, repair and maintenance, parts supplies and storage, ensuring optimal utilisation and cost effectiveness
  • Closely monitors projects implementation, managing scope of work and related changes, ensuring they are effectively documented, approved and adhered to; reviews certificates of work to ensure correctness for onwards submission to finance for processing payments
  • Maintains healthy relationships with clients, first responder for any service breakdowns, complaints and issues; ensuring timely resolutions and escalation as per requirements
  • Reviews purchase requisition orders and supplier invoices for accuracy before procurement and payments are done
  • Manages the full cycle of departmental budget, ensuring costs are controlled within agreed limits, and savings achieved through effectiveness and efficiency
  • Tracks key performance measures, (KPIs)/metrics and generates/compiles various reports with accuracy; submitted timely Management and other key stakeholders as may be required
  • Contributes to overall overall organisation management and strategies through senior leadership processes, meetings and forums, expected to effectively generate positive impact through ideas and solutions

Education and Experience 

  • Engineering degree preferably Mechanical or Electrical
  • Masters in Business Administration or Project Management preferred
  • 8+ years of professional work experience in managing operations or  maintenance services delivery
