Job Title: Head of Finance
Location: Dar es salaam

Job Purpose:

To provide strategic and operational leadership for the Finance Department, ensuring robust financial management, accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, risk management, and support for decision-making to enhance organizational performance and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Financial Leadership

• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s goals.
• Advise senior management and the board on financial planning, risk management, and investment opportunities.
• Contribute to corporate strategy through financial analysis and forecasting.

1. Financial Management & Reporting

• Oversee preparation of financial statements, management accounts, and annual reports.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting in compliance with IFRS and local statutory requirements.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide variance analysis with recommendations.

1. Budgeting & Forecasting

• Lead the annual budgeting process and ensure regular forecasting updates.
• Monitor budgetary performance and control costs.
• Provide insights for continuous financial improvement.

1. Cash Flow & Treasury Management

• Manage cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity and optimize capital structure.
• Oversee banking relationships and treasury operations.
• Evaluate funding options and manage debt obligations.

1. Compliance & Internal Controls

• Ensure adherence to financial regulations, tax laws, and company policies.
• Strengthen internal controls to mitigate financial and operational risks.
• Coordinate internal and external audits.

1. Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to build capacity and ensure high performance.
• Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.

1. Stakeholder Engagement

• Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies.
• Prepare and present financial reports to the board and executive team.
• Support cross-functional teams with financial insights and decision-making tools.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Experience in [insert relevant industry: e.g., manufacturing, agribusiness, energy, etc.] is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of financial management principles, IFRS, and local tax laws.
