JOB DETAILS:
Paveway Africa Limited, on behalf of a client, is seeking a Head Driver who is responsible for overseeing the company’s fleet of vehicles and drivers, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of goods and personnel. This role includes managing daily logistics operations, vehicle maintenance, driver training, and compliance with transportation regulations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of drivers, ensuring adherence to schedules and company policies.
- To conduct regular meetings with drivers to address issues, provide updates, and discuss improvements.
- Plan and coordinate routes, schedules, and assignments for drivers.
- To oversee the maintenance and repair of the company’s fleet, ensuring all vehicles are safe, clean, and in good working condition.
- Ensure all drivers comply with traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- To maintain up-to-date records of driver certifications, licenses, and training.
- To monitor driver performance through GPS tracking, delivery logs, and customer feedback.
- To prepare and submit regular reports on fleet performance, maintenance schedules, and driver activities.
- To maintain accurate records of vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and service history.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through reliable and courteous service.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent; additional logistics or transportation management certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a professional driver, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Proficient in using GPS and logistics software.
- Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety regulations.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
