Our client is Tanzania’s leading wholesale distributor of agriculture inputs.  The company has 16 warehouses across 15 regions of Tanzania supplying over 250 stockists.  They are a trusted distributor for leading agriculture and veterinary manufactures. The company connects agriculture suppliers and stockists with quality, authentic and fair-priced products.  The company currently has 40 employees which will grow to over 100 in the next 3 years

Description

This is a unique opportunity for self-driven results individual to lead a successful quickly growing organization.  The General Manager will run the company’s day-to-day operations while also leading the expansion of the business.  The company has business plan to grow revenue by five times in the next 3 years.  This rapid growth be accomplished by opening additional wholesale points, increasing the product range and growing sales per customer.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the company, including sales, marketing, logistics, procurement, information technology and training.
  • Implement sales and marketing strategy.
  • Manage existing relationships with suppliers while adding new suppliers and products.
  • Research and understand the needs of the customer and plan sales activities to increase sales and hybrid adoption.   Provide after-sale customer service that increases customer loyalty and repeat orders.
  • Design and manage efficient and scalable supply chain.
  • Manage Jumla Africa’s growth.
  • Create, manage and meet budgets and financial metrics.
  • Build a results-oriented culture.

Required profile for job ad : General ManagerQualifications

  • Minimum ten years work experience in the area of sales, marketing and/or operations management
  • with a minimum of five years of senior management experience.
  • Strong marketing and sales experience and/or knowledge.
  • Experience working in the agriculture sector and rural populations, desired but not essential.
  • Proven track record of growing and leading an organization while setting and meeting goals.
  • MBA or equivalent education/experience.
  • Creative problem solving.
  • Experience working in East Africa, preferably in Tanzania.
  • Fluency in Swahili and English.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort working in a start-up environment.
  • Passion to work with rural and base of the pyramid customers.
