Our client is engaged in a large-scale industrial infrastructure project in the East African region.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in field supervision, testing & commissioning, and quality assurance — with strict adherence to international electrical codes and standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the execution of electrical works including MV/LV cabling, transformers, switchgear, control panels, grounding systems, lighting, and power distribution networks.
- Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and ITPs in accordance with international standards.
- Ensure all construction works are performed in compliance with IEC, IEEE, NEC, or BS standards, project specifications, and safety regulations.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and testing agencies to validate proper installation, configuration, and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Conduct regular site inspections and monitor installation quality, workmanship, and alignment with design intent.
- Supervise and witness pre-commissioning, testing, and energization of electrical systems.
- Verify electrical equipment labeling, cable routing, insulation, termination, and protection schemes.
- Maintain records, prepare progress reports, and document non-conformances and corrective actions.
- Work collaboratively with civil and mechanical disciplines to resolve interface and coordination issues on site.
- Promote and enforce a high standard of site safety, particularly in energized or high-voltage environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power / Energy focus preferred).
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in electrical site supervision, preferably in industrial or infrastructure projects.
- Proven expertise in MV/LV systems, substations, site lighting, and infrastructure power networks.
- In-depth knowledge of international electrical standards (IEC, NEC, IEEE, BS, etc.).
- Experience with testing and commissioning of electrical infrastructure, including interfacing with utilities or port power systems.
- Ability to review single-line diagrams, load schedules, and protection coordination studies.
- Proficient in MS Office and basic AutoCAD; knowledge of SCADA/BMS systems is a plus.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
Preferred
- Experience working under international consultancy or engineering firms.
- Familiarity with FIDIC contract conditions and performance-based infrastructure contracts.
- Strong communication skills in multicultural environments.
- Excelent knowledge of English is mandatory.
This position offers a competitive salary package and the opportunity to be part of a major infrastructure project in an international environment.
