On behalf of Tanganyika Plywood Limited (TPL), Dark Earth Carbon (DEC) is looking for a dedicated Electrical Engineer.
Short Brief of the Company
Tanganyika Plywood LTD (TPL) produces plywood for the local and regional markets in East Africa. It uses sustainable plantation materials, specifically eucalyptus and pine. The company has been operating for 8 years and is now looking for a dynamic Electrical Engineer to achieve it growth goals. The company is located in Mafinga, Tanzania and the project post is for a full-time position on site.
Job Overview
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to oversee electrical and systems and processes within our manufacturing facility, mainly the Veneer Peeling machine, Boiler, Dryer Composing line and DD Saw. The role involves ensuring the functionality, efficiency, and safety of electrical systems, as well as implementing improvements to enhance productivity and quality

Responsibilities and Duties
1. Design, implement, and maintain electrical systems including power distribution, control panels, wiring systems and components to support manufacturing processes.
2. Collaborate with team to monitor and optimize electrical parameters, including power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation, to enhance efficiency and reliability.
3. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, drawings, and test reports.
4. Troubleshoot electrical issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
5. Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of electrical equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.
6. Develop and implement energy-saving initiatives to reduce costs and environmental impact.
7. Provide technical support and training to production staff on electrical systems and procedures.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
2. Certification as a Professional Engineer is advantageous
3. Knowledge of PLC, control instruments and VFDs is an added advantage
4. Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment
5. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
6. Willingness to work flexible hours as needed to support production demands.
