Nexleaf, in partnership with JSI, is supporting the Immunization and Vaccine Development unit of the Ministry of Health in Tanzania with the installation of 5,000 Remote Temperature Monitoring (RTM) devices in health facility refrigerators across Tanzania. These devices monitor the refrigerators’ performance, ensuring vaccines are stored at the correct temperatures and remain potent. Nexleaf is currently looking for a short-term hire to support ongoing RTM installations as well as troubleshoot issues with RTM devices that arise.

Responsibilities

This role will be the main point of contact for health professionals and cold chain technicians at the health facility and health district levels. They will proactively identify and provide assistance solving problems with the RTM devices, such as troubleshooting why devices are not sending data, identifying and replacing faulty sensors and chargers, and instructing users on how to replace/reinstall RTM devices. This role is critical to ensure that health professionals at each level of the health system have access to real-time refrigerator performance data that guarantees community members are receiving potent, life-saving vaccines. This role involves regular travel to regions across Tanzania to help troubleshoot issues in-person as needed.

  • Engage with RTM users at Regional, District and Health Facility levels virtually and in person to identify and resolve issues
  • Track weekly progress of whether devices are sending data or not, to help identify root causes of issues and troubleshoot accordingly
  • Determine the best data and SMS plans available to avoid blackouts and ensure devices can consistently send data to the cloud
  • Maintain and update a list of issues arising with RTM equipment and progress made in resolving issues, to be used as a reference guide for future problem-solving
  • Travel regularly to field sites to provide on-site support for RTM device installation
  • Ensure cold chain technicians have access to temperature sensors so that they have reliable data of fridge performance
  • Prepare internal reports on the status of RTM device installations/reinstallations
  • Keep inventory of defective devices returned from Regional, District and Health facility level
  • Participate in regular meetings with Nexleaf Team to provide updates on progress, challenges, and insights from RTM users

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field with 1-2 years relevant experience
  • Experience working directly with customers in a customer service/support role
  • Experience working with technology (hardware)/internet of things devices
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and can work under minimal supervision
  • Strong communicator with proficiency in English and Swahili
  • Comfortable using data dashboards and analyzing basic data visualizations

Prefered Qualifications

  • Experience working with the vaccine cold chain system in Tanzania
  • Experience working directly with customers and/or health professionals at the facility level
  • Familiarity with remotely connected devices
