JOB DETAILS:
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The purpose of the role is to coordinate, facilitate and supervise safe and effective execution of the company’s community development projects, in line with approved corporate social responsibility (CSR) plan and guidelines. The role holder facilitates and encourages active participation of and networking between institutions and communities around the mine, in recognizing problems, identifying solutions, and implementing approved CSR projects geared towards solving targeted community problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Planning Project Management, Rural Development, Community Development or Economics or any other related academic background
• A post qualification in community development / relations (will be an added advantage)

EXPERIENCE:
• 3 – 5 years relevant experience, or Extensive experience in, and knowledge of, stakeholder engagement practices especially in the Mining industry.
• Proven practical experience in Social and Economic Development.
• Experience in other areas relevant to mining industry (or similar) will be an added advantage.
MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Facilitate planning and targeting including identification of target beneficiaries, facilitation of community meetings, facilitate development of community level action plans, Etc.,
• Facilitate implementation of project activities
• Strengthening partnerships, institutional linkages and working relationships at the local level.
• Work with a community-based self-help groups/Income generating activities (Women and youth groups) in each project interventions
• Organize community members into different groups and empower them to be actively participating in various social and economic development interventions.
• Establish and maintain close working relationships with communities and community organizations in his or he is working areas to ensure that the messages are disseminated and understood at all levels.
• Work closely with village, street level leaders, group leaders, cooperative board, cooperative members, and local government development agents.
• Represent the company in public and non-public community events/activities to promote interaction and maintain the company’s positive image.
• Participate and contribute to all land compensation actions in accordance with the GGML land access and compensation policy,
• Prepare and submit weekly updates of the action tracker of the multi-disciplinary forum and advise on areas that need improvement or special traction
• Liaise with the Security, Environment and Geology Department to understand any interventions/support that may be needed and ensure all needed support is properly documented, tracked, and reported to the Senior Supervisor
• In case of operations involving external members prepare and make all logistical requirements including appropriate PPEs, allowances, documents etc. as may require from time to time
• Regularly review procedures and other related documents for purpose of business improvement
• Communicate properly the mining activities to the community to avoid contradictions
• Engage and sensitize all stakeholders from the early and later stage of the compensation exercise.
• In collaboration with Stakeholder Engagement officials attend all community meetings and implement a proper recording of proceedings, identify issues, and submit a proposed plan of managing them to the Senior Supervisor
• Enhanced relationship between Government, Community and GGML
• Contributes to the attainment, sustenance of the Company’s social license to operate
• Safe and effective execution of community CSR projects
• Weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on Community social and economic development
• Promote Mine visibility to the host communities
• To schedule engagement sessions in line with approved CSR plans
• To report/escalate to senior management any alarming situation that will jeopardize company’s social license to operate
• To recommend various activities and interventions to enhance engagement with surrounding communities
• To represent the Company in various engagements (public or indoors) with communities and Local Government Authorities as guided by supervisor

• Strong written and spoken English essential, including demonstrated report writing abilities.
