Communications Intern (Remote/Hybrid) – Mentorship Opportunity in NGO Marketing & Resource Mobilization

Are you a passionate and organised communicator eager to build your skills in NGO marketing, content creation, and donor communications? I am looking for a Communications Intern who is ready to learn, grow, and contribute to impactful work with small grassroots organisations across Africa.

About the Role:

Thisunpaid internship is designed for someone eager to learn through mentorship while supporting a resource mobilization consultant working with education, gender, and development-focused NGOs. You’ll gain hands-on experience in communications, digital tools, and marketing strategies tailored to the non-profit world.

What You’ll Do:

• Support in creating marketing and donor-facing content using Canva and Google Suite
• Draft, edit, and translate professional communication materials in Swahili and English
• Assist in managing social media and online presence for NGO partners
• Organise digital files, reports, and communication workflows
• Learn to tailor messaging for fundraising proposals, donor updates, and reports
• Conduct basic research on funding opportunities and donor communications
• Join mentorship sessions on resource mobilization, communications strategy, and NGO fundraising

Who You Are:

• A great communicator in both Swahili and English
• Eager to learn and grow professionally in the non-profit/NGO sector
• Familiar with or willing to learn Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Canva
• Well-organised, detail-oriented, and responsive
• Interested in storytelling, digital communication, and social impact
• Bonus: experience in writing, social media, basic graphic design, or fundraising
