A LEADING INSURANCE COMPANY IN TANZANIA SEEKS TO INVITE APPLICATIONS FROM QUALIFIED CANDIDATES FOR THE POSITION OF: CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Job purpose
• The position exists to give support to the Chief Executive Officer in the day-today running of the Company by managing the performance of each department In also with department managers to ensure that they perform in line with the Company's strategic business plan and overall budget and Company's goals.

Job description
• Developing and enhancing underwriting and risk management philosophies and procedures according to the needs of the Company and market conditions. Provides high-level expertise and guidance in technical Insurance matters.
• Carrying out portfolio analysis on losses ratios, compare vis a vis market & our book performance enabling to write new segments, better penetration within the existing segments, course correction etc. Actively manage the Portfolio and correct course whenever required.

• Leading and directing the Company's marketing and business development efforts and assures proper communication and coordination between Underwriting and Marketing
• Development and/or enhancement of new and/or exdeting products and market entries. Makes certain that products are competitive from a pricing and coverage standpoint and assures that products are in compliance with all Insurance laws. regulations and Company strategic plans.
• Maintain production, loss ratio and servicing standard prescribed by underwriting authority contracts and corporate standards.
• Participates in corporate strategic planning and responsible for the development, Implementation and execution of operation al plans to be certain strategic plans and corporate objectives are met.
• Assists with the development and Implementation of departmental performance management metrics.
• Oversees periodic underwriting audits to be certain philosophies and procedures are being followed and product lose ratios are at an acceptable level.
• -Lead in the preparations and Implementation of the reinsurance facilities including treaty programs. Assures that business processes are performed in the most efficient manner and that human and other company resources are allocated and utilized effectively.

Key responsibilities
1. Finance Business generation and monitor premium collection.
2. Claims: Monitor claims processing including authorization, adjudication, problem resolution and payment.
3. Training and supporting departmental manager
4. Strategic Planning: Establishing a strategic plan for the next three to five years
5. Monthly Management Reporting: Compiles management reports on the operations of the business each month.
6. Product Development.
7. Risk Management and Compliance
8. Negotiate Company's Treaty Program

Candidate profile:
• A creative, self-Initiator who can work both Independently and as the member of a team, while maintaining a positive, client focus and strong interpersonal skills. The Individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and manage multiple Initiatives simultaneously.
• A Master's Degree in a Business Related field and Bachelor's degree in Insurance and Risk Management, business, management, finance or related area and minimum of fifteen years of Insurance experience, preferably an emphasis in underwriting and product development along with a minimum of five years related management and administrative experience.

• The completion of a minimum of one professional Insurance designation: Le.Alll/FIIL ACIL FCII. Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCUL Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) Associate in Underwriting (AU) Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or other equivalent.
• Experience of advanced Assets and Ultra-Liability risks and covers.
• Hands on experience in Reinsurance
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations
• Strong analytical and judgment skill: excellent problem solving ability and excellent written and oral communication skills
• Knowledge of oil and gas class of business an asset.
