Description
- -Support the seed system specialists and other scientists in engaging seed producers in developing sustainable seed networks and markets, collation of certified seed production.
- -Assist in developing and improving capacity of seed sector partners through training and other related capacity building initiatives where necessary.
- -Provide technical support to NGOs private seed companies in the production of pre-basic and basic seed production.
- -Support establishment and monitor variety demonstrations/field days established in the respective countries
- Assist in organizing meetings, training, workshops.
- Provide support in organizing and conducting training and capacity building activities in the respective geolocations.
- Perform any other tasks and assignments related to the projects as requires by the supervisor.
Requirements
BSc in Agriculture or related fields and at least 3-5 years of relevant experience in maize seed systems, seed production, agronomy, seed marketing, or related field. A diploma in Agriculture with more than 5 years of experience working with established seed companies could apply.
Knowledge in seed production and breeding, extension, or related field
Experience in working with the public and private seed sector
Experience in working with smallholder farmers, NGOs, and CBOs
Good communication skills
Familiar with the implementation of demonstrations and promotion of products
Ability to work independently
Ability to work with researchers, private seed companies, and extension workers will be an added advantage.
Valid Driver’s License with active driving.

- Bachelor’s degree in science. (For research) OR Technical, vocational, or professional qualification requiring 2 or more years’ study (for non-Science positions)
- Thorough knowledge of the field of work or specialized equipment
- Basic knowledge of administrative and/or operating protocols and procedures of research support function
