Description

The Guardian Limited, a leading publisher of Tanzania newspapers including Guardian and Nipashe, is seeking motivated and highly experienced individuals to fill the position of Graphic Designer. This role is integral to creating and developing communication materials while ensuring high-quality execution of design elements for the organization.

Job Purpose

The Graphic Designer will create and develop communication materials for The Guardian Limited and provide oversight to ensure the effective execution of all communication elements.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key result areas:

    • Develop designs based on client requirements.
    • Insert advertisements into main working files.
    • Perform color separation and page proofing before sending to pre-press.
    • Collaborate as a member of the News Room graphics team, undertaking additional assignments as directed by superiors.
    • Ensure final artwork is proofread for accuracy and quality.
    • Produce camera-ready pages for the newspaper smoothly and on time.
    • Adhere to the duty roster and complete tasks assigned by the Head of Graphics or Editors to meet daily deadlines.
    • Create and design newspaper pages in accordance with the newspaper’s templates.
    • Create high-quality charts, graphs, illustrations, and other artwork for designed pages.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Academic: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Graphic Design or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Professional Qualifications and Skills:
    • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
    • Skills in Adobe Suite, video editing, and motion graphics are an added advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of working experience.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
