We are looking for Clinic Manager.
The Manager of Ebsar Eye Clinic, located in Zanzibar, Tanzania, will be responsible for the overall operational management and strategic direction of the institution. This role requires a motivated and detail-oriented leader with an advanced degree (MPH or higher) and familiarity with healthcare NGO systems, preferably in eye care. The Clinic Manager will oversee operations, financial performance, quality assurance, and community outreach, ensuring the successful implementation of the Aravind prototype system tailored to meet the unique needs of the region.
Supported by funding from Albwardy Investments, the Clinic Manager will ensure the clinic operates efficiently, achieves sustainability, and delivers high-quality eye care services. The role involves working closely with the Aravind team to adapt their proven systems and methodologies to the clinic, ensuring they meet the regional and cultural needs of Zanzibar. Additionally, the Clinic Manager will coordinate with Albwardy Investments’ local hotels to address any of the clinic’s needs that require their support or resources.
The ideal candidate will bring an understanding of the culture and traditions of Tanzania or the broader African region to align the clinic’s approach with local expectations. They will also be committed to engaging in outreach work to improve access to eye care in the surrounding community.
Responsibilities :
Strategic Leadership:
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement the clinic’s strategic plan in alignment with its mission, vision, and values.
- Goal Achievement: Assist in achieving the clinic’s long-term goals, including operational excellence and service expansion.
- System Implementation: Work closely with the Aravind team to implement their prototype system, tailoring it to meet the needs of the region
Operational Management:
- Daily Operations: Oversee daily clinic operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Financial Management: Manage financial performance, including budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation.
- Policy Implementation: Develop and implement operational policies and procedures for effective service delivery.
- Risk Management: Develop plans with all departments to minimize risk and maximize effective response.
- Collaboration with Local Partners: Coordinate with Albwardy Investments’ local hotels to facilitate logistical and operational needs for the clinic.
Community Outreach:
- Outreach Programs: Design and implement community outreach initiatives to increase access to eye care and raise awareness about preventable blindness.
- Engagement: Build strong relationships with local communities to foster trust and improve service delivery.
Quality Assurance:
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor and evaluate clinic performance metrics and implement necessary improvement initiatives.
- Quality Programs: Lead quality assurance programs to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Accreditation: Ensure compliance with national and international healthcare standards and maintain accreditation status.
Human Resources Management:
- Team Leadership: Lead the recruitment, retention, and development of a high-performing team of healthcare professionals.
- Training Facilitation: Facilitate training programs for clinic staff and local doctors, ensuring alignment with the Aravind prototype system. This includes supporting the professional development of doctors in the region and helping them adopt the clinic’s evidence-based practices and methodologies.
Community and Cultural Alignment:
- Cultural Sensitivity: Leverage knowledge of Tanzania and the broader African region to align the clinic’s operations with local culture, traditions, and healthcare needs.
- Community Engagement: Build trust and rapport with the local community to enhance the clinic's reputation and accessibility.

Qualifications:
Education:
- Advanced degree (MPH or higher) with experience in healthcare administration or NGO management.
- Familiarity with healthcare NGO systems, preferably in eye care.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in healthcare management or a similar leadership role.
- Proven track record of managing healthcare operations and achieving performance goals
Skills:
- Strong strategic planning, organizational, and financial management skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal,communication, and leadership abilities.
