JOB PURPOSE
Kühne Foundation Tanzania (KF-TZ) is an International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO) in Tanzania with the main office in Dar Es Salaam and its parent organization, the International Kühne-Foundation, located in Switzerland (www.kuehne stiftung.org/). KF-TZ together with its LEARN Logistics Program (www.learn-logistics.org) envisions a world without talent shortages in logistics and supply chain management to enable global trade and resilient economies. KF-TZ strengthens local education opportunities to guarantee the consistent, supply of highly skilled graduates and experts at university, vocational, and professional levels for logistics and supply chain markets throughout Tanzania. A particular emphasis is on logistics and supply chain management in the commercial, agricultural, and health sectors.

KF-TZ is involved in a project related to “Youth Improvement in Tanzania” (May 2023 – April 2027) with the objective to improve the living conditions and prospects of young people in rural and urban areas in four Tanzanian regions through the implementation of impact-oriented activities. The project combines three INGOs’ expertise, experience, and networks to provide holistic support and unleash synergetic potential.

The prime direct beneficiaries of the project are 50,000 young men and women between 15 and 30 years of age. They will be both in-school and out-of-school and will reside in both rural and semi-urban areas. This age range includes youth at very different transitional points in their lives and the project aims to support their individual as well as professional careers. Specifically, KF-TZ will i) Train youth in logistics, supply chain management, entrepreneurship, and job readiness related to agro- and health logistics; and ii) deliver consultancy services to improve ago logistics at the farm level and strategic and operational improvement of food supply chains.

Brief Summary of Position:
To oversee and coordinate the financial activities of the project and ensure compliance with Tanzanian and donor regulations.

The applicant will further be responsible for budgetary management as well as preparation and review of the financial reporting in close coordination with other Finance Managers. The Finance Manager will also be responsible for the consolidation of all financial reports to be submitted to the Donor.

SCOPE OF FUNCTION / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage all accounting transactions and procedures linked to the project budget and ensure that they are in accordance with statutory regulations, corporate policy, Tanzanian and Donor regulations.
• Prepare KF-TZ accounting and financial reports for reporting to the Donor and other stakeholders/partners as required.

• Ensure a sound financial management policy and system is in place and implemented.
• Ensure that all procurement-related tasks are carried out timely and following company and donor policies and procedures.

• Be involved in the creation, negotiation, filing, and tracking of documentary issues (e.g. project budgets, and tenancy agreements, etc.)
• Ensuring data entry and booking in the accounting system by Sun-Systems 6.

• Provide training to KF.TZ staff on financial Donor’s procedures and regulations.
• Contribute to financial planning, budgeting, and the implementation of internal control systems.
• Monitor, prepare, and review fund requisitions, and financial disbursements and ensure proper use of funds (allowable expenditures).
• Closely monitor the expenditure deadlines.
• Contribute to the preparation of budget revisions.
• Ensure the timeliness of financial reports.
• Participating in selected project meetings and providing input on financial-related matters.
• Keep the Country Director informed about the project’s performance on a regular basis.
• Be involved in Financial Reporting and Auditing

Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in management and accounting, Finance, or any other related discipline is required.
• Professional Qualified Accountant- CPA/ACCA required.

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position (Finance, Accounting, Business Management), preferably within a not-for-profit organization.
• Experience with Donor-funded projects will be an added advantage.

• In-depth knowledge of Tanzania’s financial regulations and accounting/auditing processes. • Ideally experienced with accounting principles according to IPSAS.
• Practical experience in financial and cost accounting, budgeting, financial management and audit.
• Practical experience in the preparation of financial reports and budget variance analyses.

• Knowledge of using accounting software. Knowledge of Sun-Systems 6 would be an advantage.
• Experience in capacity building and mentoring of staff.
• Competence in computer skills is a must, especially MS-Excel.
• Experience in working within a consortium with multiple partners.
