Summary:

This position is responsible for providing operational and technical inputs into the liaising with the client for monthly and weekly planning process, monitor and manage all load & haul and drill and blast related production statistics and preparation of monthly contractor submissions.

Description:

Reporting to the Production Manager, this position is responsible for providing operational and technical inputs into the production team and coordinating daily, weekly and monthly planning process with the client, sign-off of drill and blast plans & execution and preparation of monthly contractor submissions. This role is critical to the business and operational readiness strategy for the business. This position will also be responsible for mentoring and upskilling junior engineer staff.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Ensure work is undertaken in line with the company HSE standards and legal requirements.
  • Conduct, lead and participate in safety investigations, risk assessments, inspections, reviews, and audits
  • Manage the daily, weekly, and monthly activities to ensure that plans are effective, compliance is achieved, and costs are minimised.
  • Produce drill and blast proposals and designs for operational and practical implementation based on client agreed concept.
  • Monitor and manage all drill and blast related production statistics;
  • Monthly review of drill and blast performance against targets and investigate any variations.
  • Ensure quality controls are enforced in both drilling, blasting and load, haul, dump operations in addition to safety.
  • Overview of mining production performance, assessing dayworks claims for queries and issues.
  • Ensure weekly/monthly ore and waste delivery targets are achieved.
  • Engage team for technical and operational knowledge to overcome challenges and optimise the process
  • Maintains strong communication with the client with regards to mining contract and processing on delivery of planning objectives.
  • Completes production and operational performance reporting.
  • Develop, review, and maintain processes and systems for the mining department.
  • Support pit dewatering planning and requirements.
  • Assess, propose and implement through the contractor’s improvements in the Mining operations leading to better safety, quality and performance of production.
  • Mentoring of junior staff.
  • Ensure effective working relationships are built and maintained with other departments and stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Technical Competencies:

  • Ability skills with Mine Planning and design software
  • Ability to build planning systems and processes to optimise workflows.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software.
