JOB DETAILS:
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, Organize, Supervise and Manage the work of staff (driver and assistants) to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with mainstream schools and their requirements.
• Provide and manage a safe, effective and efficient network of school bus fleet to mainstream schools within the area of service.
• Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the school bus with in all districts in Dar es Salaam, a detailed knowledge of the area is required as well as in-depth knowledge of route scheduling and efficient time table preparation.
• Assess and identify economies within the network, while ensuring minimum effect to the quality and effectiveness of the service provide.
• Develop an overview of the service area to identify ways to improve operations, performance and efficiency. May include analysis of management and financial information and helping to scope improvement projects and the development of new technologies in relation to efficient school transport operations.
• Establish good relationship with the key person in the schools we provide service and build partnerships to shape and improve service deliver as well as best practice.
• Respond to inquiries from a wide variety of internal and external parties (e.g., staff, parents, students, public agencies)
• Interact with customers politely and professionally on any queries, as well as getting feedback from them so as to improve where necessary.
• Prepare fee invoices and follow up of outstanding fees
• In conjunction with line manager construct and implement the transport policy. The policy is to be shared with parents and staff.
• Performs any other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Qualification:
• Professionally qualified (relevant degree/diploma) in Mechanics, Transport and logistics Management.
Valid Class C driving license
Experience:
• At least three years of experience in a similar role.
• Experience of responding and reacting to changing transport requirements.
• Proven ability to implement and deliver complex and challenging solutions which are consistent with existing, new or evolving policy/procedure.
• Excellent communication and networking skills with a wide range of stake holders institutional and individual level.
• Ability to plan and organize a range of complex activities and priorities within a focused area of service.
• Experience in leading and developing teams.
