Position Overview:

As the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will play a pivotal role in leading our dynamic team of professionals toward achieving efficiency, productivity, and effectiveness in our operations. This position requires strong leadership skills and a creative approach to business. The ideal candidate should possess extensive industry experience, preferably having climbed the ranks to a management role, which equips them with a unique blend of business and management expertise along with a deep understanding of industry practices, policies, and procedures. This position is based in our Dar es Salaam, Tanzania office.

Key Responsibilities

• Vision and Strategy:
  • Collaborate closely with the Managing Director to establish and drive the organizational vision and operational strategy.
  • Translate strategic goals into actionable plans for growth, overseeing organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operations planning.
• Team Leadership:
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and technical support to the operations team, covering a wide range of responsibilities, including operations, product development, collections, target management, and employee training.
  • Foster a highly inclusive culture to ensure team members thrive and organizational goals are met.
• Operations Management:
  • Oversee company operations and employee productivity, striving for excellence in every aspect.
  • Maintain operational reporting and forecasting while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
• Talent Management:
  • Play a pivotal role in recruitment, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention strategies for the Operations Teams.
• Financial Management:
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director on sales management to drive profitability and balance sheet growth.
  • Actively participate in fundraising activities.
• Stakeholder Relations:
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with key customers, clients, partners, and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Leadership: Demonstrated leadership experience with a track record of personal integrity and excellence.
• Business Acumen: Strong business acumen with a solid understanding of regulatory issues.
• Analytics: Proficiency in data analysis and performance metrics.
• Problem Solving: Ability to diagnose issues swiftly and anticipate potential challenges.
• Minimum Work Experience: At least 8 years of experience in the B2C sector, with 4-5 years in a leadership role.
